FAQ
Why do I have to buy a package to attend? Why can’t I just buy a ticket?
Great question! Space at the castle is limited and we have to follow pesky rules like fire codes and occupancy limits! So, attendance is limited to the capacity of the castle grounds. As such, our options were to sell individual tickets and then assign random strangers as roommates or make each accommodation the equivalent of buying tickets for its capacity. To put it another way, we priced two person and four person packages with the assumption that it would be split between 2 and 4 people.
Why do I have to book my room separately by calling the castle? Why isn't my room booked when I buy the package?
Champions Grove is so pleased to be hosting this event at Ravenwood Castle. Due to the regulations of the hotel, they must handle the direct booking for each room. You can find prices for each room by clicking "Reserve Your Package."
What if I want a 2 or 4 person space all to myself?
That’s totally up to you! Once you purchase a package, you can use it how you want. That said, we’d encourage you to leave the 4 person spaces for more folks so we can get as many people at the event as we can!
Can I bring sleeping bags or something and squeeze more people into the room?
Unfortunately, occupancy of the rooms is limited to what is listed. So, either 2 or 4!
Are the rooms ADA accessible?
The Shakespeare Suite features an accessible bathroom with an oversized toilet and hand shower. Additionally, there are no stairs into or out of the Shakespeare Suite.
Will food be provided?
Yes! The castle includes breakfast and we will be bringing in caterers for lunch and dinner!
What kind of food? FANCY FOOD???
What kind of food will be available at the Castle? Delicious buffet-style food will be provided for lunch and dinner from local Hocking Hills restaurants! Lunch will be lighter but still filling fare (think sandwiches/pizza as an easy example) with dinners running the gamut from a feast in the Ravenwood Castle Grand Hall to a grill out under the stars! All meals will include omnivore, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. After booking, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire for the weekend. If you have concerns about mealtimes, a staff member will contact you directly and will work with you to come to a beneficial, equitable, and delicious solution!
I’m disabled. Is Champions Grove accessible?
We are doing everything in our power to ensure equal access at Champions Grove. Please contact us directly at championsgrove@travismcelroy.com with specific access questions. After booking, you also will have an opportunity to let us know about any access needs and our staff will work directly with you to arrange accommodations! Please note that the castle does not have an elevator and that most rooms do require steps to get into.
What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?
Champions Grove will make every effort to accommodate dietary restrictions and needs. After booking, you’ll be contacted by Champions Grove regarding any allergies or dietary needs, and our staff will follow up directly if you have specific concerns.
What will the schedule/programming be like at the event?
We will be bringing in some very cool game masters to lead games. What those games will be will be up to them! They might choose to lead one-shots, one page RPGs or just a round of some board games. We will also have things like pub trivia and scavenger hunts. Beyond that, it’s up to you! After booking, we’ll contact you to see what sort of programming you are interested in and we’ll plan accordingly!
What if I don’t want to do any of the programmed events?
Champions Grove is all about figuring out how you want to spend the weekend! Fun looks different for everyone! Some folks want to spend 16 hours a day at the table gaming with friends. Others might want to go for a hike in the woods enjoying the beautiful forest. Want to sit on your cottage porch with a cup of tea and a good book? Totally valid! As long as you are enjoying yourself, we are happy!
What’s the phone signal/WiFi situation like?
In the middle of the woods in picturesque Hocking Hills, cell service tends to be limited at best. There’s WiFi in the castle accommodations, but it can be spotty.
Am I allowed to cosplay/LARP?
Absolutely! We’re at a castle in a forest, it just makes sense! When it comes to weapons, we do not allow firearms and require that all bladed weapons remain peace-tied with zip ties to their sheaths throughout the weekend.
Is there an age limit for attendance?
Champions Grove is for guests 21+ only. No children or guests under 21 are permitted on castle grounds for the weekend.
How do I reach the Castle?
Directions to the castle can be found at https://www.ravenwoodcastle.com/about-us/location/ We will be arranging transportation from the Columbus airport to the castle and vice versa with limited pickup times.
What is the alcohol policy?
Absolutely no outside alcohol may be brought onto the Ravenwood Castle premises.
Are pets allowed?
Trained service animals are allowed.
